Amid budget squabble, Assembly Dems pitch their own proposals
TRENTON, N.J. - As squabbling over Gov. Jon S. Corzine's proposed sales tax increase continues, Assembly Democrats have offered a variety of alternatives, including new taxes, increasing state debt collections, and not increasing property tax rebates going to seniors and others.

Springfield man acquitted of loan sharking ties
A Springfield man who prosecutors say was tied to a mob-run loan sharking operation was acquitted Friday of threatening a Westfield pizza shop owner to collect a loan.
